By Newton's Second Law, Force = mass*acceleration (F=ma).
To for a, divide by a on both sides.
F = ma
[tex] \frac{F}{a}= \frac{ma}{a} [/tex]
The a's cancel.

a = F/m

Acceleration is directly proportional to the force and inversely proportional to the mass.
