I believe the answer is: non-suicidal self-injury
In most cases, suicides or self-harming activities happened because the victim keep drowning themselves in negative emotion to the point where they perceive life as something that is not worth holding any longer.
Their chance to do such activities would be dramatically reduced if they could find one person with same hobbies to spend time with them
