What is the effects of foreshadowing in a story

Foreshadowing is giving the viewer an idea on what is to happen next in the story. This could make the reader more involved with the thrill the story gave. Also, plays greatly to increase suspense factor of the story. Lastly, this creates an interest within the reader to continue reading your story.
