Well, when you add or subtract decimals, you must make sure that the decimal point is lined up, no matter how many decimals you have. Let's say you're adding 1.59 and 3.024. This is how you would set it up
 2.59
+3.024

(Because I'm typing this, they don't match up perfectly, but you get the jist)
Next, you add normally, filling in zeros wherever there seems to be no number to add.

 2.590
+3.024
=5.614
