The given complex numbers are [tex]z_1 = 5-2i[/tex] and [tex]z_2 = 8+i[/tex].

For given two complex numbers [tex]z_1 = x_1+iy_1[/tex] and [tex]z_2 = x_2+iy_2[/tex], the midpoint is given by the formula [tex](\frac{x_1+x_2+y_1+y_2}{2})[/tex]

So, midpoint = [tex]\frac{5+8-2i+i}{2}[/tex]

= [tex]\frac{13-i}{2}[/tex]

= [tex]{6.5-0.5i}[/tex]

Hence, the midpoint of the given complex numbers is (6.5, -0.5)

Option 3 is the correct answer.
