Why did manufacturing hire children to work in their factories?

They were cheap labor, they could actually make a profit with child workers, and they could fit into spaces that adults couldn't. That is until the Child Labor Laws were passed.

It was cheap labor, and families needed money, so they sent their children off to work like them so they could get food and other things they needed.
