When a 40% of a number is added to the number and the result is 126 , what is the number ?

it would be 315. The simplest way to doing this would be by, first , doubling the number to make 252 which would add up to be 80%, and then divide 126 by 2 to get 63 which would be 20% ad by adding them all together you would get 315, which is equal to 100%.
