Peaches were $7 a bushel and apples were $6 a bushel. Harry sold $346 worth and sold 29 more bushels of peaches than apples. How many bushels of apples sold?

x---->  bushels of peaches

y---->  bushels of apples

we know that

[tex]7x+6y=346[/tex] -----> equation A

[tex]x=y+29[/tex] -----> equation B

substitute equation B in equation A and solve for y

[tex]7(y+29)+6y=346[/tex]

[tex]7y+203+6y=346[/tex]

[tex]13y=346-203[/tex]

[tex]13y=143[/tex]

[tex]y=143/13=11[/tex]
