Why does insurance often provide "peace of mind"?

A "peace of mind" means the lack of worrying, the state in which you are not coming  up with different scenarios in which something can be go wrong, for example. An insurance provides a "peace of mind" because you don't need to worry that something will go wrong: instead, you can be pretty sure that if it does, you are covered!
