If a reaction has only one reactant, it is a decomposition reaction.
A decomposition reaction is a type of chemical reaction in which one reactant yields two or more products.
The general form for a decomposition reaction is
A → B + C
An example is the decomposition of water:
2H₂O → 2H₂ + O₂
