He downplayed his anti-semitism so he could win the elections by promising help to the german public. If he was honest about jews during the elections he would have lost.

Hitler went that way because at that time in history Germany was hurting really bad and he used the jews as a escape for that pain and in doing that it helped him gain power and if he was honest about the jews and whos fault it really was Hitler would of never went to power
