4x - 2y = 7....multiply by 3
3x + 6y = 9
-------------
12x - 6y = 21 (result of multiplying by 3)
3x + 6y = 9
-------------add
15x = 30
x = 30/15
x = 2

4x - 2y = 7
4(2) - 2y = 7
8 - 2y = 7
-2y = 7 - 8
-2y = -1
y = 1/2

solution (2,1/2)
