f(b) < f(a) and g(b) < g(a) for any a and b in the interval.

Subtracting these 2 equations, we get

f(b) - g(b) < f(a) - g(a) for any a and b in the interval.

Which means f-g is increasing in the interval (a, b) but as a and b were random real numbers we took, f(x) - g(x) will be increasing for an interval
