The British government passed the Intolerable Acts as a result of the Boston Tea party; they wanted to punish the colonists. (Passing the act is an action by the government). The colonists’ reaction to the Intolerable Act were unhappy and many boycotted. The colonists believed the act violated their natural rights. This act was powerful enough that it was a factor that lead to the American Revolution.
