You solve an inequality like you would solve a normal equation 
-8<x+12 (subtract 12 from both sides)
-20<x
or 
x>-20

Then you would draw an open circle at -20 (not a closed circle because the inequality says > rather than ≥)
The you would shade to the right of -20 because any value larger than -20 will make this statement true
