What do you think Wiesel means when he says "he ( god) has been hanged here, on the gallows?" Explain.

I think that Wiesel means that God created us and when the Jewish were hanged in the gallows in a metaphorical way so was God. (this is what i think so I'm sorry if I wasn't much help)
