How did the way the people lived in the 1770s influence our government today?

There were many ways, for starters, they focused on education as much as possible and on the belief that the public good should always come before the personal good. This was the enlightenment period where people were taught to change their governments and vote and participate and things like that. They would all work together to help make the colonies a better place.
