How did southern states react to the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860?

They felt they had no voice in national government.
The policies that lincoln advocated threaten the economy of the southern states because they heavily rely on slaves as their majority workforces in the election.
So, after Lincoln was elected they perceive that the government no longer care for their interest and threaten to secede.
