The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and other researchers found that the ideal number for a work team is 5-6 people because it makes the work reduced. If the number gets higher than this, more likely some people will not do work anymore. It also allows cliques, sub-teams, etc. which may obstruct the progress.
