Salt gland is an organ for excreting excess salts.  Active transport via sodium-potassium pump moves salt from the blood into the gland, where it is excreted as a concentrated solution. Iguanas rid themselves of excess (extra) salt, consumed along with the algae, by a special gland (salt gland) connected to their nostrils.
