Explain why is air transport preferred in north eastern states of India

Air travel is preferred in North Eastern states because of the mountainous terrain-Himalayas,Naga,Mizo, Patkoi,Jaintia are some of the hiis amd mountains over there. Due to these mountains , road transport is difficult. Hence air travel is preferred there.
