Elizabeth was warned that with Wickham they would probably not have good lives with regard to being comfortable financially.  It can be seen as bold by Elizabeth to allow herself to fall in love with Wickham because she would allow herself to fall in love in the face of low socioeconomic status, and this would, indeed, take bravery on behalf of Elizabeth.
